Choosing The Right Wine For The Occasion
When it comes to wines, it’s all a matter of personal taste and personal preferences. There is no law that states that you MUST use a certain type of wine for a specific type of occasion. Still, there’s no harm in taking in a few guidelines that we think can help you pick the right wine for the occasion you choose. Remember, you don’t have to stick with what we say. You may think that our guidelines are all rubbish, and that’s quite fine, because you are indeed entitled to your own preferences and choices in wines. Still, here are our guidelines: • White Wines: These are lighter and drier than red wines and they are better served during the earlier part of the evening, prior to the main course. They are great for starting off the evening right, especially if you want to make a toast at a special occasion. White wines such as Chardonnay are great for serving with rich tasting courses, especially if those courses come with creamy sauces. It’s also really good for consuming with meals like salads, shrimps and fish, because it has a fruity nature. • Red Wines: These wines are perfect for main courses, especially because their full-bodied nature is great from hearty meals. They’re usually served at the later part of occasions. A great wine, which most people are likely to enjoy, is Merlot, which encompasses an equal mix of lightness and body, that’s great for most dishes. It goes really well with poultry, pork and lamb. Pinot Noir goes great with creamy sauces, Shiraz is great for spicy foods, and Chianti goes well with poultry and tomato dishes. It’s all your choice, but for some occasions we also suggest they you prepare servings of both red and white wines and let your guests sample the ones that they would rather have for the occasion.
