What Fine Wine Really Is

It’s something that’s always spoken about – fine wine is what you bring to the best parties, dinners and other events. Well we always talk about it, but what is it really? It’s got a couple definitions and criteria well. Although many people class all types of wine in this category, it encompasses wine of the highest quality. That in itself is a deeply subjective definition, because what one individual may consider as superior wine, is what another individual would consider unworthy for even a pig to take a bath in (haha…yeah, that was a little dramatic). That’s why in this article, we’re going to show you some of the basic criteria that you can use to help classify your wine. • Balance: It must be equal in all its parts. It should not be too fruity, too tannic, too alcoholic or too acidic. Although, in this category, there are factors such as the tannic - this can improve with age. • Length: The wine must have a lingering experience. Its savor should not disappear as soon as it is consumed. • Complexity: It should encompass factors within itself, which makes it much more rewarding and interesting than other wines. It should now just be flat and boring – it should offer a mysterious experience. • Typicity: The wine should reflect the highest quality in its league. It should stand out amongst its partners and peers. These guidelines aren’t set in stone, so they are optional and subject to preferences and such, so you don’t have to take our word for it.
