How To Make Red Wine Ice Cream



You can add wine to your meal routines. Have it with your lunch or dinner, or maybe even have it for dessert. Let’s talk about wine for dessert, just for a minute. Drinking isn’t the only thing you can do with wine for dessert. Have you ever heard of ‘Sweet Red Wine Ice Cream’? Yummm! We’ll show you how to make it. What you’ll need: - 1/2 cup sweet red wine (Moscato Rosa, Sagrantino Passito or Recioto di Valpolicella) - 1 cup milk - 1/2 cup sugar - 2 cups heavy ice cream - 6 large egg yolks What you need to do to make it: - Get a heatproof bowl and use it to mix the egg yolks. - For about 4 minutes, mix the milk, cream and sugar in a saucepan let it simmer over a moderate fire, so that the sugar would dissolve. - Whisk the hot cream into the egg yolks in the bowl, then pour it back into the saucepan again. - Continue to cook it over moderate heat while stirring it persistently. - In about 5 minutes, you should you see that the custard is thick enough to coat the back of the spoon. Ensure that it does not boil, or else it will curdle. - Strain the custard and stir the red wine into the custard as well. - Cover the bowl of custard-wine mixture and for about an hour, refrigerate it until it is completely thrilled. - Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to freeze the ice cream in an ice cream freezer. - Cover the ice cream and store it in the freezer until it’s time to serve it.
