If you aren’t a wine expert or a wine enthusiast, you probably would know that there are several different types of wine. That’s right – red wine and white wine have different categories underneath them. We want to show you what those 8 types of wine are. Read and follow. Cabernet Sauvignon: - It originated in France and it is a full-bodied red wine which is popular across the globe. - Its Alternatives are Bordeaux Blend, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, Merlot, and Sangiovese. Chardonnay: - This wine is full-bodied and comes from France. It usually tastes creamy and buttery and it is Burgundy’s white wine. - Its alternatives are Sémillon and Viognier. Zindafel: - This wine comes from Croatia and is a medium-bodied wine. - Its alternatives are Grenache (aka Garnacha), Tempranillo, Rhône Blend and Carignan. Syrah: - This France-originated, full-bodied wine. They are usually blended with Grenache and Mourvèdre, to make Rhône Blend. - Its alternatives are Malbec, Petit Sirah, Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre) and Pinotage. Pinot Noir: - This wine comes from France and it is a dry light-bodied red wine. - Its alternative is Gamay (aka Beaujolais). Pinot Gris: - North Italy and France are where this dry light-bodied wine originates from. - Its alternatives are Muscadet, Albariño and Soave. Riesling: - This wine is an off-dry aromatic white wine, which comes from Germany. When it is sweet and around 9% - 10% ABV, it was considered as a low alcohol wine. - Its alternatives are Muscat Blanc (aka Moscato), Torrontés, Torrontés and Gewürztraminer. Sauvignon Blanc: - This dry light-bodied white wine comes from France. - Its alternatives are Verdejo, Colombard, Vermentino and Grüner Veltliner. Try them out and see if they tickle your fancy.
